Baartman, Du Plessis star in MLC

South African talent shone across the opening round of Major League Cricket, with Faf du Plessis and Ottneil Baartman the standout performers.

Seattle Orcas vs Texas Super Kings – Texas won by six wickets

Du Plessis rolled back the years with an unbeaten 113 off 52 balls as the Texas Super Kings chased down 221. Rilee Rossouw supported with 49, while Wiaan Mulder finished the job with 31*off 15.

Nandre Burger went wicketless for 27, and Baartman, playing for Seattle, claimed the wicket of Milind Kumar to finish with 1-40.

Washington Freedom vs Seattle Orcas – Seattle won by five wickets

Baartman was the star of the show, taking 4-33 to set up a Seattle Orcas win. Welkom-born Andries Gous top-scored for the Freedom with 35 off 21 balls, while Matthew Breetzke smashed 66 off just 36 deliveries to seal the chase for Seattle.

Marco Jansen was the most expensive bowler, finishing with 1-52.

San Francisco Unicorns vs Los Angeles Knight Riders – LA won by seven wickets

Lhuan-dre Pretorius struck 58 off 28 balls for the Unicorns in a seven-wicket defeat to the LA Knight Riders. Shadley van Schalkwyk picked up 1-23 for the Knight Riders.
