Bavuma adds another title to collection

Temba Bavuma’s success as a captain continued after the Proteas skipper led Ghent Gladiators to the inaugural EUT20 Belgium title.

The Proteas skipper guided Ghent to the title with a three-wicket win over Antwerp Anchors in the final at Zemst, continuing a remarkable run of success as a leader.

The triumph comes less than a year after Bavuma led South Africa to the World Test Championship title, further strengthening his reputation as one of the country’s most successful captains in recent years.

While the EUT20 Belgium competition does not carry the profile of international cricket or the major franchise leagues, the tournament attracted experienced players from around the world and provided Bavuma with another opportunity to lead a side to silverware.

Images shared after the final showed Bavuma lifting the trophy alongside his teammates before joining in the celebrations following Ghent’s victory.

The title adds another chapter to a memorable period for the 35-year-old. After helping South Africa end their long wait for a major ICC trophy with World Test Championship success, Bavuma has continued to make an impact both on and off the field.

For South African cricket supporters, the latest achievement is another reminder of the leadership qualities that have become synonymous with the Proteas captain throughout his career.
