Pretorius, Harmer seal wins on day four

Migael Pretorius helped Somerset seal a 306-run win while Simon Harmer claimed three more wickets for Essex as South Africans featured across a decisive final day in the County Championship.

Leicestershire vs Essex – Essex won by six wickets

Simon Harmer claimed three more wickets to add to his first innings 3-42 as Essex wrapped up victory, chasing 215 with Dean Elgar contributing nine runs off 10 balls before falling early. Paul Walter’s unbeaten century sealed a six-wicket win that sent Essex top of Division One.

Nottinghamshire vs Somerset – Somerset won by 306 runs

Migael Pretorius took two wickets as Somerset bowled Nottinghamshire out for 166 to seal a commanding 306-run victory, the champions’ first home defeat in 14 matches.

Northamptonshire vs Gloucestershire – Northants won by seven wickets

Ricardo Vasconcelos contributed 33 off 37 balls in the chase, hitting four fours and one six before being dismissed. Calvin Harrison blazed 92 off 100 balls to seal a seven-wicket win with Northants closing on 191-3.

Worcestershire vs Middlesex – Middlesex won by 141 runs

Eathan Bosch ended Gareth Roderick’s stubborn 104-ball resistance to swing the match Middlesex’s way, finishing with 1-34 in the second innings, while Leus du Plooy bowled two tidy overs for six runs. Beyers Swanepoel fell for a first ball duck to Zafar Gohar, who took 6-31 to seal a 141-run win.
