According to Cricbuzz, scans revealed a pre-existing lumbar stress issue, with Burger set to miss the remainder of the tournament as he begins an extended period of rest and rehabilitation.
He featured in two matches for the franchise, bowling his full allocation in the opener against Seattle Orcas before sending down two overs against San Francisco Unicorns, where he claimed the wicket of Finn Allen. He was later replaced in the side by Adam Milne.

Fellow South African Dian Forrester has been named as his replacement. The batting all-rounder, who made his T20I debut against New Zealand earlier this year, has played five internationals and boasts a T20 strike rate of 140 alongside 14 wickets in 39 matches.
He recently toured England with South Africa A and has featured across multiple Super Kings setups, including the Joburg Super Kings in SA20 2025/26 and Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2026 as an injury replacement for Jamie Overton.
Burger’s latest setback extends a frustrating run with injury, having battled recurring back issues over the past few seasons that have repeatedly disrupted his availability at both domestic and international level.
