Beuran Hendricks has opened up on his unexpected departure from Western Province, saying he was left “shocked and disappointed” after his contract was not renewed
According to News24, The experienced left-arm seamer, who has since signed a two-year deal with the Warriors, said the manner of his exit left him frustrated, particularly given what he felt was still a decent contribution on the field.
Hendricks said he only expected discussions once the domestic season had ended, but instead was called into a meeting where he was informed he would not be retained.

He explained that he initially believed contract negotiations were about to begin, before being told the union would not be offering him a new deal. After that conversation, he said it became clear there was no intention for him to remain at Western Province.
Communication leading into the decision, he added, had been minimal, with the outcome coming as a surprise given his role in the side. Hendricks took 16 wickets in four matches last season and said he still felt he had contributed strongly and did not expect it to be his final campaign in Cape Town.
While unsure whether there had been a broader shift in direction at the union, he said there was no clear indication he remained part of future plans. Once the decision was made, he was simply informed he would not be retained, describing the situation as unexpected but part of professional sport.

Hendricks also pointed to what he described as a recurring theme in his Western Province career, having previously been brought into the system, adapted, and then found himself out of favour despite believing he was still performing.
He stressed there was no bad blood with the union but admitted the experience had been difficult. “Consistently a fight over here,” he said, adding that while disappointed, he held no resentment.
Despite the setback, Hendricks said he is focused on his next chapter in the Eastern Cape with the Warriors, where he hopes to continue performing at domestic level.
