Proteas Women’s batsman Laura Wolvaardt has been named in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Team of the Tournament.
Wolvaardt used her opportunities with the bat whenever she had the chance and came close to steering the Proteas to victory in the semifinal against Australia last Thursday.
Instead the Australians walked away with a 5-run victory before hammering India by 85-runs in the final on Sunday.
The 20-year-old scored a total of 94 runs at the competition and is the only South African in the team that features five Australian players, four English and one other Indian player.
Meg Lanning, who led Australia with distinction throughout the competition has been named as captain of the Team of the Tournament.
Australian openers Alyssa Healy and Beth Mooney are also in the team after the destruction they caused with the bat in the final at the MCG.
