• Warner plays down Quinny ‘war’

David Warner and Quinton De Kock will resume their rivalry when Australia face South Africa but don’t expect a flare up of their tensions.

The two were at the centre of a Kingsmead locker room skirmish during the Australians last tour but despite no words between the pair since, the visiting batsman expects the new series to played with a mutual level of respect.

‘Obviously we’ll cross paths playing against each other. But I don’t have his number and I speak to a few of the South African guys but I’ve never played in the same team as him or anything like that,’ Warner said as quoted by The Guardian ahead of the opening T20.

‘Obviously it’s a little bit different. I’m sure if I see him on the field and that, we’ll just treat each other how we normally would as respectful opponents.’

This is the first tour to South Africa since Warner and Steve Smith featured in ‘SandpaperGate’.
