• KV ‘hopes to learn as much as possible’

Wicketkeeper-batsman Kyle Verreynne is looking forward to playing alongside a host of international talent, after being added to the Paarl Rocks squad for the 2019 edition of the Mzansi Super League.

Verreynne, who played for the Cape Town Blitz in the 2018 MSL but was initially overlooked for this year, has replaced the injured Aiden Markram.

The Rocks’ local marquee player is Proteas captain Faf du Plessis. Their international marquee player is Sri Lanka all-rounder Isuru Udana. England batsman James Vince is also in the squad.

‘It is fantastic to be able to join a team with a lot of experienced players, internationals and domestic players. I hope to learn as much as possible from those players,’ said Verreynne.

‘After playing against the Paarl Rocks last season and just seeing the support they had in Paarl and all around the country, is something that really excites me.’

The Rocks finished third in last year’s six-team standings, after five wins and as many defeats. The Jozi Stars claimed the inaugural title after beating the Blitz in the final.

‘I’m looking forward to joining a team that did quite well in last season’s campaign. This year I want to help the team to win the title. The support in Paarl is always amazing. I’m really looking forward to that,’ concluded Verreynne.
