Rassie van der Dussen and Theunis de Bruyn were in the runs for the Proteas on day three of the four-day warm-up match against a Cricket Australia XI in Brisbane.
Van der Dussen, batting at No 3, made 95 before being run out. His 184-ball knock included 12 fours and a six.
De Bruyn, who last played Test cricket for the Proteas in 2019, came in at six and scored 88 off 86 balls, with 11 fours and two sixes.
Temba Bavuma did not bat in the Proteas’ first innings due to discomfort in his left elbow, but he spent some valuable time at the crease in their second while scoring 28 off 92 balls.
Blake Edwards (3-45) and Jordan Buckingham (2-59) were the hosts’ best bowlers.
At stumps, South Africa were 304-8 and leading by 425 runs.
The match does not have first-class status, allowing all Proteas squad members to get game time.
The first Test between Australia and South Africa at the Gabba in Brisbane starts on Saturday, 17 December.
