Season 4 of the SA20 delivered its strongest results yet, underlining the competitionโs rapid rise as both a cricket product and entertainment offering.
Crowds remained a key driver. A total of 22 of 34 matches were sold out, with overall attendance reaching 84% of stadium capacity. The final at Newlands sold out for a fourth consecutive year, where Sunrisers Eastern Cape secured a third straight title. Fan engagement reflected that demand, with more than 90% satisfaction for matchday experience and a similar number indicating they would return.

The competition again acted as a pathway to higher honours. Nqobani Mokoenaโs breakthrough season resulted in a Proteas call-up, highlighting the leagueโs role in developing young players. The requirement for each franchise to include under-23 players has strengthened that pipeline.
Off the field, audience growth continued across platforms. SuperSport reported a 17% increase in unique viewers per match, while total consumption rose by 30%. International reach also expanded, with double-digit growth in both viewership and media exposure. Digital platforms recorded significant gains, including a 146% increase in video views and strong growth in followers and website traffic.
The league also maintained its broader impact. Development programmes supported young professionals working within the tournament, while funds raised for the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation contributed to community initiatives.
As SA20 moves towards its fifth season, the numbers reflect a competition that continues to build momentum, with strong local support and growing global relevance.
