Jordan Hermann’s maiden Somerset century headlined a productive Friday for South African players across both divisions of the County Championship.
Nottinghamshire vs Somerset – Somerset 295-7
Hermann anchored Somerset’s first innings against the defending champions with a composed 106 from 203 balls, rescuing the visitors from 47-3 alongside 18-year-old Thomas Rew, who contributed 68.
Their fourth-wicket stand of 122 was the backbone of a solid day for the visitors.
Leicestershire vs Essex – Essex 342-5
Dean Elgar fell cheaply, bowled by Ben Green early on, but Essex recovered through Jordan Cox’s unbeaten 184 to close in a commanding position.
Sussex vs Glamorgan – Glamorgan 155, Sussex 136-2
Colin Ingram edged to second slip as Glamorgan were bowled out for 155, with Jaydev Unadkat taking 4-29 to give Sussex the upper hand at stumps.
Durham vs Derbyshire – Durham 264-7
David Bedingham fell for 49 runs just as a big score beckoned, while Duanne Olivier marked his Durham debut and Wayne Madsen captained Derbyshire with the decision to bowl first vindicated by Ben Aitchison’s 4-57.
