• Pakistan edge Zimbabwe

Pakistan narrowly got the better of Zimbabwe by 26 runs in the opening ODI despite a valiant century by Brendon Taylor.

The Zimbabweans did well to restrict a talent Pakistan batting unit to 281-8 in their 50 overs with Blessing Muzarabani and Tendai Chisoro the pick of the bowlers for Zimbabwe with two wickets each.

In reply Zimbabwe started really well Craig Ervine and captain Brendan Taylor making solid contributions with the bat.

Ervine departed for 41, while Taylor went on to bring up a spectacular century against a talent Pakistan bowling unit.

But, when Taylor departed, the brilliance of Wahab Riaz and Shaheen Afridi came through as the pair accounted for nine wickets between the two of them.

Riaz finished with figures of 4-41 and Afridi 5-49 in his ten overs as Pakistan got over the line in the final with Zimbabwe dismissed for 255.

The second ODI will get under way on Sunday with the Zimbabweans hoping to bounce back in the three-match series.
