• Limpopo turn to Titans duo

Titans cricketers Andrea Agathangelou and Alfred Mothoa have been named in Limpopo’s squad for this month’s T20 Provincial Cup.

Right-handed batsman Agathangelou averages almost 40 after 79 first-class matches, while fast bowler Mothoa has taken 121 wickets in 49.

‘Limpopo Impala Cricket has announced its squad to participate in pool C of Cricket South Africa’s Provincial T20 Cup, which will be held this weekend in Potchefstroom. The squad consists of the two franchise players allocated by Titans: Agathangelou and Mothoa. They will definitely add value to the campaign,’ reads a statement from Limpopo.

The tournament used to be called the Africa T20 Cup. Gauteng, who were captained by Proteas batsman Temba Bavuma last year, are the reigning champions after beating Border in last year’s final.

Seamer Nono Pongolo will captain the title holders this year. Bavuma has been included in South Africa’s squad for this month’s three T20Is against India. He has also been named in the squad for October’s three Tests against the Indians.

Former Dolphins and Lions fast bowler Craig Alexander, meanwhile, has been named in Boland’s squad.

The squad also features Cape Cobras trio Ferisco Adams, Simon Khomari and Lizaad Williams and will be coached by former Proteas seamer Henry Williams.

Squad: Ludwig Kaestner, Lerato Kgoatle, Andrea Agathangelou, Lefa Thaba, Michael Weldon, Ryno Marais, Thomas Hobson, Don Radebe, Michael Mahlaba, Andrew Rasemene, Sahil Patel, Alfred Mothoa, Gerhardus Fourie.
