• Knights, Titans take big wins

The Knights got off the mark with their first win of the One-Day Cup series, while the Titans racked up their sixth win from eight matches on Friday night.

    Warriors vs Knight

The high-riding Warriors suffered a setback as the Knights reduced them to 98-8 halfway through their 50 overs. Marco Marais’ 42 off 36 balls (with four sixes) helped to lift the home side to 121 all out off 26.3 overs.

Marchant de Lange (3-18) and Ottniel Baartman (3-32) did the bulk of the damage with the ball for the Knights.

The Knights’ run chase got off to a disastrous start as they were reduced to 13-3, but Rudi Second struck a match-winning 71 off 70 balls with 10 fours as the visitors powered to victory in under 30 overs.

Sisanda Magala (2-26) and Andrew Birch (2-28) returned the best figures for the Warriors, who will hope to bounce back quickly to consolidate their place near the top of the table.

    Dolphins vs Titans

Heino Kuhn’s well-timed 107 off 98 balls (11×4, 1×6) laid the foundation for the Titans to post 300-9 off their 50 overs. Skipper Heinrich Klaasen added 51 off 54 balls with a four and two sixes. Senuran Muthusamy (3-55) and Okuhle Cele (2-49) enjoyed the best success for the ball for the home side.

Vaughn van Jaarsveld (52 off 59 balls) and the in-form Sarel Erwee (29 off 36 balls) got the innings off to a good start before the Dolphins slipped to 95-4. Sibonelo Makhanya (55 off 66 balls, 2×4, 3×6) did his best to keep the run chase realistic, but the Titans bowlers kept things tight to deny them and claim their sixth win from eight matches.

Junior Dala was the destroyer-in-chief, ripping out five Dolphins batsmen for just 32 runs (econ 3.20), while Dean Elgar chipped in with 4-37 (econ 4.53) as both bowlers returned their career-best List A bowling figures.
