The 18-year-old seamer struck in a devastating third over of the second innings, removing England prospect James Rew, Tom Lammonby and Archie Vaughan in quick succession. Norton became the youngest player to take a first-class hat-trick on Glamorgan debut and the first to do so on a County Championship debut since 1906. He also became the youngest ever to achieve a first-class hat-trick on debut anywhere in the game.
“It was a moment I’ll cherish for the rest of my life,” Norton said. “It was surreal. I never expected anything like this.”

Glamorgan had earlier been bowled out for 229, with Somerset taking a 125-run lead after posting 354. But Norton’s spell completely changed the rhythm of the match, turning a strong position into survival mode for the visitors.

Somerset still remain ahead in the game, but Norton’s burst has given Glamorgan a genuine chance heading into the final stages, with his name now firmly part of Championship history.
