Out-of-form Proteas captain Temba Bavuma was not selected for Monday’s T20 World Cup warm-up match against New Zealand in Brisbane.
Bavuma has made just 64 runs in seven T20I innings this year at an average of 10.66 and a strike rate of 82.05. In the recent T20I series against India he was dismissed for nought off four balls, nought off seven and three off eight.
According to CSA, “Temba Bavuma eased into training yesterday [Sunday] and is working towards featuring in Wednesday’s warm-up match against Bangladesh. Keshav Maharaj will captain the side today.”

The Proteas selected a team of 13 players, with 11 to bat and 11 to bowl.
