Wolvaardt anchors Brave in MI London win

Danni Wyatt-Hodge came agonisingly close to a match-winning chase, but Brave's total, built around Laura Wolvaardt, proved just enough.

Wolvaardt managed just 13 off her first 20 balls before a misfield at long-on opened the door for her to accelerate, adding two more boundaries in quick succession to help move Southern Brave past 100.

She was eventually bowled by Melie Kerr for 35, having played a central role in lifting Brave to 126-7 alongside Jemimah Rodrigues (32) and Maia Bouchier (31). Opener Lizelle Lee made a brief 9 off 7 balls before being caught behind off Nicola Carey.

That total proved just enough. Chasing 127, MI London were left needing eight off the final over, but Lauren Bell conceded just six to seal victory by a single run.

Danni Wyatt-Hodge finished unbeaten on 52 in a losing cause, while Hayley Matthews contributed 32 with the bat before taking 4-22 with the ball, including two wickets in three balls late on.

The result extended Southern Brave’s unbeaten start to three wins from three, with MI London still searching for their first win of the campaign.
