• Van Biljon the Knights’ leading light

Chief executive officer Johan van Heerden relished the involvement of three Knights in the 2019 Mzansi Super League.

Tuesday’s player draft saw Knights captain Pite van Biljon move from the Jozi Stars to the Tshwane Spartans – and young all-rounder Marco Jansen recruited by the Durban Heat. Leg-spinner Shaun von Berg, meanwhile, left the Spartans for the Durban Heat.

The right-handed Van Biljon collected 98 runs in seven innings for the title-winning Stars in the 2018 MSL – and will be accompanied by international marquee player Tom Curran, former Proteas captain AB de Villiers and others at the Spartans.

‘It is always nice to have our players involved in the Mzansi Super League and specifically our captain Pite. It is good to have him playing on a higher level and in a bigger competition in preparation for the season ahead,’ said Van Heerden.

‘It is very nice to see young Marco, who is already doing a lot more than anybody anticipated, getting a run in the Durban Heat side as well as Shaun.

‘Congratulations to our three players who have been drafted into the second edition of the Mzansi Super League. We know they will represent us well in this year’s competition.’

Jansen is currently on tour with South Africa A in India.
