Faf du Plessis has moved to an unbeaten 177 at tea on day three against Sri Lanka with the Proteas sitting comfortably on 565-6.
Du Plessis brought up his tenth Test century on Monday morning and has kicked on since the lunch break, surpassing the 150-run mark with some elegant batting.
Wiaan Mulder batted well for his 36 before Wanindu Hasaranga found the edge of his bat, caught behind by Niroshan Dickwella.
The visitors’ injury trouble got worse during the middle session with Lahiru Kumara and Wanindu Hasaranga both leaving the field in some discomfort. Fortunately for Sri Lanka, the spinner made a return to the field after receiving some treatment.
Keshav Maharaj provided some good assistance for Du Plessis and batted his way to an unbeaten 43 at the interval with a couple of big shots around the ground.
The Proteas will be hoping to build on their lead of 169 runs during the final session of the day at SuperSport Park.
