• Faf and Tahir fired up in IPL

Faf du Plessis and Imran Tahir starred for the Chennai Super Kings, but ended up on the wrong end of the result, writes ANITHA MADIKIZELA.

Having won the toss and electing to bat first, the Super Kings posted just a meagre 132-5 after a scorching start from openers Shane Watson (31) and Du Plessis. The Proteas captain has been superb in the IPL, and racked up 45 (31 balls, 3×4, 3×6), as well as bagging two catches on the eve of CSA’s World Cup squad announcement.

The ever-entertaining Imran Tahir has also brought out his best in the buildup to the World Cup next month, and picked up 2-20 in his efforts to catch Proteas’ premier paceman Kagiso Rabada (17 wickets) at the top of the bowling charts, the leggie now with 15 scalps.

Tahir and du Plessis were unfortunate to end up on the losing side as the Sunrisers cruised to a six-wicket victory that took them two points away from the playoff spots.
