• Paterson helps Notts to crushing win

South African bowler Dane Paterson picked up 4-49 on Sunday to help steer Nottinghamshire to an innings and 170-run victory over Worcestershire.

Nottinghamshire were in the driving seat after posting 400-5 in their first innings before Luke Fletcher led from the front to dismiss Worcestershire for only 80.

Their second innings didn’t go much better with Paterson, Fletcher and Stuart Broad combining as Worcester were bowled out for only 150 in their second innings.

All the other County Championship matches from the weekend ended in draws due to persistent rain across the UK. Hashim Amla made 43 in Surrey’s second innings on Sunday where they shared the points with Middlesex.

David Bedingham and Leus du Plooy unfortunately both managed ducks in Durham’s draw with Derbyshire, while Simon Harmer scored 40 not out in Essex’s first innings against Warwickshire.

Kyle Abbott picked up six as Hampshire dismissed Leicestershire for only 88 in their first innings before the game culminated in a draw on Sunday.

Somerset vs Gloucestershire, Kent vs Glamorgan and Lancashire vs Northamptonshire also yielded no results.
