Late Ferreira burst sets up Phoenix win

Donovan Ferreira's late fireworks helped Birmingham Phoenix reach the second-highest total in The Hundred's history in their win over Trent Rockets.

Ferreira’s rapid cameo helped push Birmingham Phoenix to 214-4 against Trent Rockets, his nine-ball innings featuring three maximums that took the innings tally to 17 sixes, the joint highest in the tournament’s history.

Ferreira’s captaincy also paid off with the ball, turning to Usman Tariq, whose off-breaks proved decisive throughout the Rockets’ chase.

Tariq broke a dangerous opening stand between Ben Duckett and Finn Allen, then removed Tim David for just 2, key moments as Trent Rockets’ pursuit of 215 fell away.

Despite a late flourish from Tom Banton, who struck 67 off 32 balls, the Rockets finished 10 runs short, giving Ferreira a winning start to his leadership at Edgbaston.
