• KES off to a flying start

KES have won four of their five early season matches at the start of the 2019 school year, writes THEO GARRUN.

King Edward VII School has got its 2019 season off to a good start with three wins out of four at the Grey High School tournament, followed by a convincing win over Waterkloof in the opening local fixture.

They beat Northwood, Selborne and Framesby at the Grey Festival and lost to Grey High.

Heinrigh Pieterse has been in great form and there are high expectations for him. He made the top score at the Grey Festival: a run-a-ball 153 against Northwood. He hit 14 fours and five sixes in the process.

He also made 76 in last Saturday’s match against Waterkloof and has also shone with the ball. He took 4-40 against Northwood and 6-30 against Selborne at Grey.

Bryce Parsons, who missed the Grey Festival because he was at the CSA Cubs week, showed his class as an all-rounder against Waterkloof. Parsons scored 76 runs and took 3-23 in his side’s 118-run win.

KES had a bye in this week’s Johnny Waite Knockout Cup competition and they play Noordheuwel on Saturday.
