Hampshire have signed Afghanistan teen Mujeeb Ur Rahman for the forthcoming T20 Blast.
Mujeeb made his international debut at the age of 16 and went on to take 35 wickets in 15 ODIs. He also has two wickets in two T20Is.
The talented 17-year-old offbreak spinner also made his debut in the IPL this season, playing for the Kings XI Punjab. He sits seventh on the wickets tally with 14 dismissals in 11 games.
‘He’s been one of the finds of the IPL, so he comes in great form,’ said Hampshire director of cricket Giles White. ‘He’s one of the leading bowlers in the IPL and he brings something completely different. Not a lot of guys will have faced him.’
Hampshire also confirmed the signing of New Zealand all-rounder Colin Munro for the T20 series.
‘Colin has been very successful for New Zealand over the past couple of years, so they’re very exciting signings.’
