Former Proteas batsman Herschelle Gibbs says drastic changes must be made to South Africa’s limited-overs set-up.
The Proteas suffered a crushing seven-wicket defeat by India’s second stringers in the third ODI in New Delhi on Tuesday after being bowled out for 99 in 27.1 overs.
“Saw the score,” Gibbs tweeted. “Like I said we need a complete white ball overhaul asap.”
After South Africa’s loss to India in the second ODI on Sunday, the 48-year-old tweeted that “Proteas odi cricket has gone nowhere in 4yrs. Nothings changed.”
When asked what he would change, Gibbs said: “Whoever’s in charge of batting is out of his depth ..batters mindset and approach needs to change. Indian youngsters showing them up.”
Justin Sammons has been the Proteas batting coach since August 2021.
