• Frylinck stars again in Bangladesh Premier League

Proteas all-rounder Robbie Frylinck’s solid stretch of form in the Bangladesh Premier League continued on Saturday when the Chittagong Vikings overcame the Khulna Titans.

Frylinck snared the key wicket of opener Juniad Siddiqu as the Vikings limited the Titans to 151 for six – and later struck a brisk 23 in the final total of 151 for eight.

With the scores tied, a one-over eliminator decided the result. Frylinck, too, bowled that over in triumph for the Vikings.

The veteran right-armer is currently joint leading wicket-taker in the 2019 edition of the BPL alongside the Rangpur Riders’ Mashrafe Mortaza and Shafiul Islam, with eight.

Frylinck played starring roles against the Riders and Sylhet Sixers earlier in the competition, too.

He has played three T20Is – and was a key member of the Tshwane Spartans’ squad for the inaugural Mzansi Super League in South Africa late last year.

The Bangladesh Premier League features other South Africans as well, including leg-spinner Imran Tahir, batsmen Cameron Delport and AB de Villiers, seamer Andrew Birch and all-rounder David Wiese.

Countryman Rilee Rossouw, meanwhile, has risen to the top of the 2019 BPL’s leading run-scorers list.

Rossouw has struck 186 in four innings, including 76 not out and 83 against the Riders and Dhaka Dynamites respectively.

He also represented the Spartans in the MSL, but is not available to the Proteas after signing a Kolpak contract – and has since forged a successful career with Hampshire in English county cricket.
