• England get winning start

Anya Shrubsole took 3-25 as England’s women beat South Africa’s women by 15 runs in their first T20 on Thursday in Paarl.

South Africa asked England to bat first. Sarah Taylor carried their innings with an unbeaten 74 and was the only player to score more than 18 as England posted 147-7 in their 2o overs.

Moseline Daniels (2-20) and Dane van Niekerk (2-26) were the pick of the bowlers.

South Africa made a great start to their chase as Van Niekerk (52) and Trisha Chetty (46) shared a 96-run opening stand before Van Niekerk was caught.

However, the home side lost four wickets in the next four overs for just 23 runs which ultimately cost them the game as they finished on 132-6.

The next game is a double header with the men at Newlands on Friday.
