• Delhi Capitals secure finals spot

Kagiso Rabada delivered another excellent bowling display as the Delhi Capitals sealed their spot in Tuesday’s IPL final after beating the Sunrisers Hyderabad by 17 runs in Qualifier 2 on Sunday.

Defending a target of 190, Rabada finished with figures of 4-29 in his four overs to guide the Capitals over the line in what will be their very first final when they meet the Mumbai Indians for the ultimate prize.

Batting first the Capitals made a pretty good start with Marcus Stoinis promoted to opener and together with Shikhar Dhawan the pair gave their team a good platform with an 86-run partnership.

Dhawan struck 78 off 50 deliveries, while Shimron Hetmyer contributed 42 from 22 towards the end of the innings as the Capitals posted 189-3.

The Sunrisers were in trouble early on in their run chase after Rabada knocked over the dangerous David Warner for only two but Kane Williamson kept his team in the game with a brilliant half-century of his own.

The New Zealand was striking it cleanly and was on par with the Sunrisers’ run rate but when he departed for 67 it became a difficult task for the tail to reach their target.

Rabada then struck the killer blow with three wickets in his final over that ultimately sealed the win for the Capitals as the Sunrisers ended on 172-8 in their 20 overs.
