Proteas coach Shukri Conrad is wary of the appointment of a selection convener by CSA later this month.
CSA’s last convener, Victor Mpitsang, resigned shortly before Conrad and Rob Walter were appointed Proteas Test and white-ball head coaches, respectively, in January 2023.
Conrad was recently named all-format head coach following Walter’s shock resignation.
“The last thing you want is for someone to come in with a completely different agenda,” Conrad told the Sunday Times when asked about the appointment of a selection convener.
“It’s important for players to know exactly where they stand, who’s accountable, who’s the sole voice who takes responsibility, because I don’t like collective responsibility.
“Cricket has never been a democracy. Whoever the fall guy is he takes the rap.”
