• Cape Town Blitz recruit England’s Livingstone

The Cape Town Blitz purchased England batsman Liam Livingstone in the opening round of Tuesday’s player draft for the 2019 Mzansi Super League.

Livingstone represented the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League earlier this year – and is part of Lancashire’s 2019 T20 Blast campaign. The leg-spinning all-rounder played two T20Is in 2017.

Warriors fast bowler Sisanda Magala also joined the Blitz, while franchise batsman David Bedingham and Marques Ackerman joined the franchise as well.

The Blitz were runners-up in last year’s inaugural MSL, after losing to the Jozi Stars in the final.

Last month, the Cape Town franchise announced the retention of Pakistani Asif Ali and Proteas trio Janneman Malan, Anrich Nortje and Dale Steyn.

Pakistan fast bowler Wahab Riaz has replaced England batsman Dawid Malan as the team’s international marquee player. Wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock has remained as their local marquee player.

Squad: Quinton de Kock, Wahab Riaz (Pakistan), Liam Livingstone (England), Dale Steyn (retained player), Sisanda Magala, Anrich Nortje (retained player), Asif Ali (Pakistan, retained player), Mohammad Nawaz (Pakistan), Janneman Malan (retained player), George Linde (retained player), David Bedingham, Vernon Philander, Marques Ackerman, Gregory Mahlokwana, Aviwe Mgijima.
