• Amla’s Surrey bag big win over Gloucestershire

    Stand-in captain Hashim Amla’s 173 in the first innings proved deciding as Surrey beat Gloucestershire by an innings and 47 runs at the Oval on Sunday.

    Amla’s heroics with the bat was backed up by excellent bowling by Surrey, who put the visitors under pressure from the start.

    Scores of 158 and 268 by Gloucestershire didn’t trouble Surrey’s first-innings score of 473.

    Wayne Parnell claimed two wickets in the first innings to help Northamptonshire to a seven-wicket win in their clash with Sussex.

    Leus du Plooy only managed scores of 7 and 19 as Derbyshire suffered a heavy innings and 23-run defeat to Worcestershire.

    Despite picking up a five-wicket haul in the first innings, Dane Paterson was on the losing end as Warwickshire beat Nottinghamshire by 170 runs on Sunday.

    Dane Vilas’ Lancashire also inflicted a massive hammering on Yorkshire by claiming an innings and 79-run win at Old Trafford.

    Colin Ackerman smashed an unbeaten 126 on the final day’s play as Leicestershire beat Middlesex by five wickets on Sunday.
