On Thursday, CSA released the list of nominees for its men’s and women’s player-of-the year award for the 2025 season, as well as other categories.
After a stellar season, which included the Proteas being crowned ICC World Test Championship (WTC) winners after an historic triumph over Australia at Lord’s, the nominees for SA men’s player of the years were Corbin Bosch, Aiden Markram, Keshav Maharaj and Lungi Ngidi.
The Proteas Women continued their rise in world cricket as they reached a third consecutive ICC final at the Women’s World Cup in India last year.
Stars Nadine de Klerk, Marizanne Kapp, Sune Luus, Nonkululeko Mlaba and Laura Wolvaardt have been shortlisted for the women’s award.
The Proteas Women are currently playing in the T20 Cricket World Cup in England and Wales and hoping it will be third time lucky after reaching the final of the last two T20 World Cups.
Proteas face India showdown after Pakistan escape
The awards are set to take place at the Sandton Convention Centre on 16 July and will honour the standout performers over the cricket season from 1 May 2025 to 30 April 2026.
The awards will also recognise players and coaches across the domestic game, along with those who officiate the game.

“From the historic ICC World Test Championship triumph at Lord’s Cricket Ground to the Proteas Women reaching a third consecutive ICC World Cup final, our national teams have once again shown the strength, resilience and pride of South African cricket on the global stage.
This year sees the introduction of a new judging panel comprising world-renowned umpire Lauren Agenbag, sports journalists Stuart Hess and Tinus van Staden, former Proteas star Vernon Philander, SABC broadcaster Hussein Manack and SuperSport presenter Philisande Sixabe.
