IPL 2026 belongs to Sooryavanshi as records tumble

Rajasthan Royals’ 15 year old sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi continues to tear through the IPL record books after his explosive 38 ball 93 against Lucknow Super Giants in Jaipur.

According to NDTV Sports Desk, the innings added to a growing list of milestones that have defined his breakout season.

He became the youngest player in IPL history to reach 500 runs in a single season, surpassing Rishabh Pant’s previous mark set in 2018. He also registered the highest strike rate in a single IPL season (minimum 500 runs), finishing at a staggering 236.3.

Sooryavanshi’s power hitting has also placed him among the all time greats for six hitting in a season. He is the first Indian batter to reach 50 sixes in one IPL edition and now has 53, second only to Chris Gayle’s record 59 set in 2012.

The teenager has also matched an elite power hitting feat, becoming only the third player in IPL history after Chris Gayle and Abhishek Sharma to register multiple innings of 10 or more sixes in a single season.

Rajasthan Royals have also rewritten team history, setting a new IPL record for most powerplay sixes in a season with 60, with Sooryavanshi responsible for a major share of that total.
