Newlands hit hard by mega storm

The storm which lashed Cape Town on Monday did not spare one of the Mother City's iconic landmarks, with Newlands Cricket Stadium flooded and sheeting torn from the roof of one of the stands.

The stadium, one of the most picturesque in the world, suffered damage as roof sheets were lifted by winds which topped 100km/h.

The outfield was also covered in water after rain lashed the city overnight and on Monday.
