Leus du Plooy‘s double century and Simon Harmer‘s 10-wicket haul were the standout moments from South Africans plying their trade in England over the past week.

County Championship Division One

Pace bowler Dane Paterson picked up four wickets (2-42 and 2-106) for Nottinghamshire in their 399-run defeat to Somerset. Matthew Montgomery chipped in with 33 off 76 balls (five fours) in Nottinghamshire’s first innings, but only managed seven runs the second time around.

Harmer produced a stunning performance for Essex in their nine-wicket victory against Warwickshire, finishing with a 10-wicket match haul (5-65 and 5-165). The spinner also contributed 30 off 46 deliveries (five fours) with the bat during Essex’s first innings.

In Lancashire’s 123-run victory over Surrey, Lancashire captain Keaton Jennings, the son of former Proteas coach Ray, scored 25 off 61 balls (four fours) in their first innings, while Dane Vilas made 39 off 72 (four fours, one six) .

County Championship Division Two

Colin Ackermann starred for Leicestershire in their draw against Durham, scoring 146 off 258 balls (17 fours) in Leicestershire’s first innings, followed by 39 off 83 (five fours) in their second. The match also featured Wiaan Mulder, who made 56 off 88 deliveries (five fours, two sixes) and 37 off 71 (five fours).

Du Plooy was the star for Derbyshire in their draw with Worcestershire, scoring an unbeaten first-innings 238 off 356 balls (25 fours, two sixes) after Durban-born teammate Wayne Madsen had struck 143 off 230 (18 fours, one six).

T20 Blast

On Sunday, Mulder‘s unbeaten 83 off 50 balls (nine fours, two sixes) was not enough for Leicestershire, who went down by four runs to Nottinghamshire.

Grant Roelofsen scored 26 off 19 deliveries (two fours, one six) for Gloucestershire in their eight-wicket loss to Hampshire.

Madsen top scored for Derbyshire with 63 off 32 balls (six fours, three sixes) in a high-scoring encounter that Worcestershire won by 28 runs, while Middlesex captain Stephen Eskinazi struck 38 off 23 deliveries (three fours, two sixes) in their dominant 49-run win over Glamorgan.

On Saturday, Gloucestershire’s Roelofsen scored 30 off 14 balls (four fours, one six) and Graeme van Buuren 22 off 14 (four fours), to go with his bowling figures of 2-13, in their five-wicket victory against Sussex.

On Friday, Mulder‘s 35 off 23 balls (two fours, one six) was in vain as Derbyshire’s Du Plooy contributed a quick-fire 30 off 15 deliveries (two fours, two sixes) in their 71-run drubbing of Leicestershire.

In a match marred by rain, Colin Ingram top scored for Glamorgan with 34 off 14 balls (four fours, two sixes) as they stumbled to a 21-run defeat against Hampshire (D/L method).
