Alam century not enough for Pakistan

Fawad Alam scored a century but that wasn’t enough to save Pakistan from a 101-run defeat to New Zealand.

Pakistan came into the final day of the Test 71/3 but Azhar Ali fell just four runs later, knicked off by Trent Boult.

Alam and Mohammad Rizwan then built a defiant partnership that gave Pakistan some hope of salvaging a draw, however the latter was undone by Kyle Jamieson, who trapped him lbw.

From there it was a procession of wickets, Pakistan losing five within the space of 33 runs. The wickets were shared evenly (two each) among New Zealand’s attack.
