Albie Morkel’s farewell dinner

Former Proteas all-rounder Albie Morkel was the guest of honour at a dinner held at Emperors Palace’s Aurelia’s Restaurant on Sunday evening.

The dinner followed Morkel’s benefit match for the Titans Invitational XI against the touring Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club. Morkel and his Titans teammates lost to Notts by three wickets in the limited-overs clash, but all the players got together at Emperors Palace’s Aurelia’s Restaurant after the game to socialise, have dinner and give the hard-hitting all-rounder a fitting send-off after an illustrious career.

During the evening, Titans CEO Dr Jacques Faul presented Morkel with a farewell gift of a special framed and signed Titans shirt. Morkel was also joined at the dinner by his wife, Marthmari, and their children AJ (9) and Cara (7), his brother, Malan, and his wife Mariska and their children, Bjorn (9) and Milan (7), as well as his parents, Albert and Mariana (main pic).
