The Western Legends could be forgiven for thinking that their massive total of 315-5 in 50 overs would’ve been enough to secure a victory over the defending champions, the Coastal Conquerors. Even more so after the Conquerors were in deep trouble at 94-5.
However, Romashen Pillay came to the rescue with a superb knock of 163, supported by Blake Simpson (59) in a 129-run partnership for the sixth wicket.
Pillay’s innings is the third-highest score at the Cubs Week since the inaugural tournament in 2009. He faced just 126 deliveries and hit nine fours and six maximums as his side bagged a dramatic one-wicket victory.
The Legends’ Joe Meyer (91) and GJ Maree (37) had earlier shared a partnership of 106 runs for the second wicket. Corné Prinsloo also weighed in with 68*.
