Erin Osborne led the Melbourne Stars Women to their fourth win while Stafanie Taylor spun the Sydney Thunder Women to the top of the Women’s Big Bash League table.

Stafanie Taylor starred for the Sydney Thunder Women as they climbed to the top of the table following a convincing six-wicket victory – with 16 deliveries remaining – to record their fifth win in six matches. After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Taylor was the pick of the Thunder bowlers with her 3-24 in four overs.

Not much came off the bat of the Hobart Hurricanes Women, with Erin Fazackerley top-scoring with a respectable 35 off 21 balls (six fours) before Taylor struck. The Hurricanes managed 153-9 in their allotted overs, which the Thunder easily chased down thanks to an explosive half-century from Naomi Stalenberg that included five fours and two spectacular sixes.

Hobart Hurricanes Women 153-9 (20 overs) EG Fazackerley 35, HC Knight 34; SR Taylor 3-24, S Bates 2-16, RM Farrell 2-34

Sydney Thunder Women 156-4 (17.3 overs) NE Stalenberg 55, RH Priest 40, AJ Blackwell 20 not out, SR Taylor 20 not out; HC Knight 2-25

    Scorecard

Melbourne Stars Women’s captain, Erin Osborne, put in an all-round performance against the Adelaide Strikers Women by picking up two wickets in the first innings before her unbeaten half-century in the second saw the Stars over the line with three balls to spare. After winning the toss and electing to field first, the Stars restricted the Strikers to 144-7 in 20 overs with Sophie Devine top-scoring at the top of the innings with 46 off 36 balls (7×4). The Stars chased the target down in the final over, with Osborne hitting the run that lead her team to victory.
