• Stokes, Broad’s ‘problem with each other’

Fast bowler Stuart Broad and vice-captain Ben Stokes shared an on-field spat during day three of England’s first Test against the Proteas at SuperSport Park in Centurion.

‘England’s hot in the weather and not feeling well. I’m pleased that a few words were exchanged to be honest. They’ve got a problem with each other. Broad has said something in the huddle that Stokes is not amused with and England’s vice-captain picks him up on it. I don’t mind that at all,’ said former captain and television commentator Nasser Hussain.

Ex-West Indies fast bowler and television commentator Michael Holding added: ‘Well that doesn’t look like a very friendly conversation, does it? I’m not sure what started it, but hopefully it will end soon.’

England moved to 121-1 – and within 255 runs of victory on Saturday.

All out for 284 in the first innings and 272 in the second, the Proteas left England with a target of 376. The tourists’ first innings had amounted to 181 all out.
