• Several Proteas join Euro T20 Slam

Proteas fast bowler Dale Steyn, leg-spinner Imran Tahir and batsman JP Duminy will play for the Glasgow Giants, Amsterdam Knights and Belfast Titans in the inaugural edition of the Euro T20 Slam later this year.

South African all-rounders Robbie Frylinck were recruited by the Dublin Chiefs, while left-arm wrist spinner Tabraiz Shamsi and seamer Dwaine Pretorius joined the Edinburgh Rocks.

Fast bowler Hardus Viljoen was hired by the Rotterdam Rhinos, while batsmen Heinrich Klaasen and JJ Smuts will be Steyn’s teammates at the Giants.

Earlier this week, ex-Proteas batsman Herschelle Gibbs was appointed head coach of the Rhinos, ahead of the inaugural Euro T20 Slam. Former Proteas all-rounder Lance Klusener has been named the Giants coach.

The tournament, hosted by Ireland, Scotland and the Netherlands, will start in late August. Six teams will contest 33 matches. Ireland’s Malahide Cricket Ground will host the semi-finals and final in late September.
