Run out drama rocks PSL final

A controversial run out added a flashpoint to Peshawar Zalmi’s five-wicket win over Hyderabad Kingsmen in the PSL final in Lahore.

Hyderabad were bowled out for 129 in 18 overs, with Saim Ayub top-scoring with 54 from 50 balls. Aaron Hardie led Peshawar’s attack with 4-27 before guiding the chase with an unbeaten 56 from 39 deliveries.

The key moment came during Hyderabad’s collapse, when Kusal Perera tried to complete a quick single while Nahid Rana was bowling. Rana appeared to run across Perera’s path as the batter set off, raising questions over possible obstruction.

The decision went to a long umpire review, but Perera was eventually given out after officials ruled he had not been directly impeded.

Michael Bracewell still had work to do and completed the dismissal with a diving effort towards the stumps. The run out was part of a sharp fielding display from Peshawar, with Bracewell also running out Irfan Khan Niazi.

Peshawar reached 130-5 in 15.2 overs to claim their second PSL title.
