• Rain leaves England needing a miracle

Day three of the second Test in Manchester was lost to rain, making England’s task of squaring the series very difficult.

With the West Indies leading the three-match series 1-0, England needed a strong response in this Test.

An excellent two days at Old Trafford, which featured centuries from Dom Sibley and Ben Stokes, had England declaring on 469 late on day two.

They picked up a stick before the close of play, and England would have been confident of utilising a deteriorating wicket. However, constant rain on day three curtailed their march, leaving them needing to take 19 wickets in two days if they were to level the series.
