• Lions edge Warriors in PE

A valiant 171 by Rudi Second wasn’t enough as the Warriors fell 76 runs short against the Lions in Port Elizabeth on Thursday.

Resuming the final day’s play on 219-5, the Warriors had it all to bat for in their quest of chasing down the target of 513 set by the Lions.

Second continued his overnight score on 76, but piled on the runs that guided him to an impressive and much-needed century before kicking on the Warriors’ fightback.

He received some assistance from Lesiba Ngoepe down the order but when he departed for 51, the Warriors had to more conservatively try to bat out the day.

Second was eventually undone by Malusi Siboto before Tladi Bokako wrapped up the victory for the Lions.

In Centurion, the match between the Titans and Cobras ended in a draw on Thursday afternoon, with the men from the Cape batting out the day without the home side getting a shot at a second innings.

The Cobras continued on 33-0 and Proteas opener Pieter Malan kicked on from his first-innings century to bring up a well-played 50.

Thando Ntini kept the Titans in the small fight with a couple of wickets but the two captains shook hands with the Cobras on 207-5.

On Wednesday, the Dolphins claimed a convincing five-wicket victory over the Knights in Durban.
