• KKR grab important win over Hyderabad

The Kolkata Knight Ryders picked up their fifth victory of the IPL by beating the Sunrisers Hyderabad in a thrilling super over in Abu Dhabi on Sunday.

With both teams in need of a win after falling to defeat in their previous encounters, a spirited performance by Eoin Morgan’s men saw them strengthened their position in 4th spot on the table with the victory.

Morgan contributed a handy 34 to add Shubman Gill’s 36 at the top of the order as the Knight Riders posted 163-5 in their 20 overs after some tight bowling by the Sunrisers attack.

In reply, Kane Williamson was promoted up the order to make the most of the power play alongside Jonny Bairstow and the pair made a swift start by racing to 58-0 before the New Zealander departed.

A good effort by the Knight Riders’ bowlers looked to have sealed the win for them in regulation play but Warner, who batted at number four, made a late flurry of 47 that saw the Sunrisers even the scores on the final delivery.

Lockie Ferguson, however, was the standout performer for the Knight Riders by delivering figures of 3-15 in his four overs, before picking up the crucial wickets of Warner and Abdul Samar in the super over as the Sunrisers were bowled out for only two runs.

It secured an easy win for the Knight Riders in the end as Morgan and Dinesh Karthik guided their team over the line in what was their fifth win of the campaign.
