• Big win keeps Warriors in hunt

A captain’s knock by Colin Ingram kept the Warriors unlikely march to the play-offs of the Momentum One-Day Cup alive with a remarkable victory over the Titans in Centurion on Friday.

Colin Ingram scored a wonderful 106 no to secure an unlikely win by five wickets, after the visitors faced the tough task of chasing down the target of 354 set by the home team.

The Warriors keep some hope of reaching a play-off spot alive, depending on their last game and the results in other final pool matches, while for the Titans it will all go down to the final pool match.

This result also means the Cape Cobras will host a home final despite losing their game against the Dolphins by 25 runs at Newlands in Cape Town.

The Titans started poorly and were struggling at 81/3 before Jacques Rudolph (78) and David Wiese (59) steadied the ship. Qaasim Adams (102 no from 71 balls), coming in at number six, propelled his team to a formidable target, hitting nine sixes and three fours in the process.

The Warriors paced their chase well and Ingram had good support from JJ Smuts (88) and Darryl Brown (50) who chipped in with half-centuries. Ingram batted through till the end to keep his side’s play-off hopes alive by reaching 354/5 with 14 balls to spare.

At Newlands, the Dolphins batted first and posted 249/9 thanks largely to Vaughn van Jaarsveld’s 105 from 96 balls. They made life difficult for themselves by suffering four run-outs, but in the end the total proved to be enough as the Cobras succumbed to 224 with Richard Levi, Stiaan van Zyl and Justin Ontong getting ducks.

The Dolphins face the Titans in Durban on Sunday, while the the Warriors are at home against the Lions in their third must-win match in just five days.
