Baartman, Breetzke fall short against New York

Ottneil Baartman and Matthew Breetzke did their part, but Seattle could not find the extra runs needed to close out a tight chase against MI New York.

Los Angeles Knight Riders vs Washington Freedom – LA won by 18 runs

South African-born USA internationals Andries Gous, Obus Pienaar and Shadley van Schalkwyk went head to head in Dallas. Gous hammered 37 before falling to Ali Khan, while Pienaar’s late 18 not out was not enough as the Freedom fell 18 runs short of LA’s 192. Van Schalkwyk took 2-60 from his four overs as LA held the Freedom to 174-8.

MI New York vs Seattle Orcas – New York won by 17 runs

Ottneil Baartman’s 2-18 and Matthew Breetzke’s 44 off 31 balls were not enough to prevent Seattle Orcas falling to a 17-run defeat on Friday. Ryan Rickelton, opening alongside Monank Patel, made just two before becoming one of five victims for Marcus Stoinis, who finished with 5-46.

Los Angeles Knight Riders vs San Francisco Unicorns – LA won by 11 runs

Fresh off his maiden MLC century, Lhuan-dre Pretorius made 18 off 11 balls in the Unicorns’ 11-run defeat to LA. Shadley van Schalkwyk delivered again with the ball, taking 1-30 as San Francisco were bowled out for 173.
