The 15-year-old left hander lit up the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium with a breathtaking display of power hitting, hammering 10 fours and eight sixes at a staggering strike rate of 324.14. Although he fell agonisingly short of a century, 94 in the ninth over, the youngster once again underlined his reputation as a player for the biggest occasions. The knock adds to an already remarkable list of performances that includes 175 off 80 balls in the ICC Under 19 World Cup final against England, 97 off 29 in an IPL Eliminator and 96 off 47 in an IPL Qualifier 2.

Sooryavanshiโ€™s latest masterclass further strengthens his status as one of cricketโ€™s brightest young stars. His fearless approach, combined with an extraordinary ability to deliver in high pressure matches, has drawn comparisons with some of the gameโ€™s greatest talents.

With records continuing to tumble wherever he bats, the teenager is rapidly becoming one of the most exciting prospects world cricket has ever seen.
