• Adams century lifts Titans

An impressive 123 from Qaasim Adams blitzed the Titans to 451-8 dec, handing them a 368-run lead after the Dolphins closed day two on 83-1 in Durban.

The Dolphins‘ openers battled valiantly to lose just one wicket from the 18 overs that they had to face in the evening session on day two, but the Titans will be happy with their batting display, especially with the Lions struggling in Johannesburg.

The Titans are the Sunfoil Series leaders, but there’s not much in it as they sit four points ahead of the Lions. But that gap looks likely to increase come the end of the seventh round of matches.

The Titans began the day well placed on 204-3 thanks to Heino Kuhn’s 97 and a fifty from Grant Mokoena. But Friday belonged to Adams, who struck his 123 off just 158 balls, in a knock that included nine fours and three sixes. Contributions from the tail allowed them to declare. The Dolphins will go into day three on 83-1, with Sarel Erwee on 27, and Vaughn van Jaarsveld on 6.

The Lions haven’t looked like worthy title rivalsĀ in their match against the Knights so far. After a washed out day one, Stephen Cook (43) was the only one that put up any resistance as they were skittled for 144, with the impressive Duanne Olivier and Malusi Siboto taking three wickets apiece, before the Knights closed on 95-2, just 49 runs behind.

The Warriors meanwhile look no closer to earning their first win of the season, as the Cape Cobras continue to pile the misery on them. The Warriors were bowled out for 217 in Paarl on Thursday, before the Cape franchise settled for 352-8 by stumps as four batsmen made fifties, including Wayne Parnell (66 not out), to cruise to a 135-run first-innings lead.
