Iyer has been ruled out for the entire season due to a back injury, and the India batsman reportedly could miss the World Test Championship final against Australia in June as well.
Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who is leading the national team in the ongoing one-off Test against Ireland in Mirpur, has confirmed his unavailability for the season.
Roy, who last played in the IPL in 2021 for the Sunrisers Hyderabad, was signed for $341,842 from his base price of $183,130, the IPL said.
The 32-year-old Roy has played 64 T20Is for England, scoring 1,522 runs including eight half-centuries at a strike rate of over 137.
